Silambarasan TR is the heart and soul of “Pathu Thala” and he delivers a powerful performance as Varadarajan. He perfectly portrays the nuances of a gangster – his swag, his style, his aggression and his vulnerability. She dominates the screen in every scene, and her presence makes the film engaging. Gautam Karthik who plays Dharma also does a good job and his chemistry with Simbu is commendable. Priya Bhavani Shankar, who plays Devi, has limited screen time but makes her presence felt.
Ashutosh Rana, who plays the villainous Selvam, is menacing and delivers a solid performance. However, his character could have been better written, and his screen time is limited, reducing his impact.

technical aspects:
The film’s cinematography by Shivakumar Vijayan is top notch, and has beautifully captured the essence of Chennai. The music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja is also good, and the lyrics go well with the narrative.
However, the editing could have been a bit rough, as there are some scenes which look stretched. The writing also has its flaws, and the screenplay could have been more engaging.
conclusion:
“Pathu Thala” is an anticipated gangster film, the story of which has been done before. However, it mainly works because of Silambarasan TR’s performance, which is nothing short of brilliant. He single-handedly carries the film on his shoulders and makes it an entertaining watch. Overall, if you are a fan of gangster movies, “Pathu Thala” is worth a watch.
